The Iliad

The Iliad is a great Greek story by a Greek poet named Homer. I will be writing a little summary about the story.

The overall story of the Iliad is how the Greeks defeated the Trojans. The battle starts, or is caused by, a man named Paris. He took with him Helen, the most beautiful woman in the world. Which was the Greek king’s wife. When the king found out he and his army went to war against Troy to bring back his wife.

The war lasted for about 10 years. In those 10 years many men died, including Achilles brother, and Achilles himself, until finally the Greek have a master plan. They pretended they went back home, but they actually were on a nearby island. Instead they build a giant wooden horse, filled it up with soldiers, and sent it to the Trojans as a “gift.” At night the Greeks from inside the horse came out and destroyed the city of Troy, aded by the other Greeks that had just arrived from the nearby island that they were camping on.

That is the great story (summarized), the Iliad. I hope you enjoyed reading about this magnificent story. If you read the story, tell me what part you like the most. Bye and see you next time
